I have been working as an Illustrator since graduating from the University of Brighton in 1997, and live in West Sussex with my two daughters, our gerbils and hamster!
I particularly enjoy working in watercolours with pen and ink detail, which I find adds expression and fluidity to an image. My other style, Inky Stick, is literally as it sounds, a stick and a pot of ink, giving a great freeness and spontaneity to an illustration.
My experience as Head of an Art Department, and now running Art workshops for around 75 school children each week has certainly inspired me, and I particularly enjoy illustrating for children.
My dream was achieved when my Agent Frances McKay took my work to the Bologna Book Fair in 2009, and my illustrations were accepted for my first children's picture book by North South Books. This clearly got things moving for me, and with artwork from both of my first two books being selected to be exhibited in both Images 34 and now Images 36 with the AOI, the opportunity was fantastic. This later followed with illustrating a series of Gift books for Little Tiger Press and the release of my own book, "Mama Hens Big Day," for North South Books.
Published work to date, with: North-South Books, Nord-Sud, Little Tiger Press, Hachette Books, Paperchase, The Paper House Group, Marks and Spencer, The Leaping Snail Press, Magi Publications, Heritage Art Papers, Coast to Capital Enterprises, Woodmansterne and a new relationship with Colcards.
